Surf Northumberland
Aug 21, 2010
Woodhorn, Ashington, Northumberland
We made the 8 hour trek ‘up north’ from Devon to give talks on British surfing history & our surf museum project for the Surf Northumberland event on Saturday August 21st, 2010.
It took place at Woodhorn, Queen Elizabeth II Country Park, Ashington, Northumberland NE63 9YF – a stunning venue on the north east coast of England.
Our founder Pete Robinson donned his boardshorts and gave a demonstration of Stand Up Paddleboarding on the lake in the grounds of the park – and some brave visitors even had a go! Highlight of the day was perhaps the longboard skateboarding on the hill outside the old colliery building.
Surf Northumberland was a day of surfing related talks and events featuring surfers, schools & stores from the North East – and just down the road there were some great waves on offer at Tynemouth.
The event was tied in with the Museum of British Surfing’s exhibition ‘an art history of British surfing‘ that’s running at the Woodhorn venue until September 19th.
