Women’s surfing pioneer Gwyn Haslock in new advert

added to the website on Jun 16, 2014

Gwyn Haslock, poster girl for our current exhibition ‘The First Wave – British surfing pioneers’ is featured in a new advert for the car manufacturer Land Rover shot by award-winning filmmaker Kevin Macdonald.

The 70-year-old from Newquay caught her first wave 60 years ago and still surfs as many days as possible. The production company Rogue Films got in touch with the Museum of British Surfing looking for inspirational characters in UK surfing and we hooked them up with Gwyn.

You can see her original bathing costumes, trophies and interviews on display now.
