Mission

The Museum of British Surfing is the national Registered Charity established to preserve and celebrate Britain’s rich surf heritage that dates back almost 250 years.

We aim to inspire, educate and encourage debate about our surfing culture and our second home – the sea.

Our unique and extensive collection is a visual treat; an inspiring learning resource that is a vibrant visitor attraction appealing to all.

The formal charitable objects of the Museum of British Surfing are to:

  • Advance education in the history and the development of surfing
  • Establish a museum for the exhibition and preservation of items of educational, cultural & historic value
  • Promote art, music and film for public benefit through exhibitions, displays and events
  • Promote the conservation, protection and improvement of the physical and natural environment
  • Encourage participation in surfing and coastal activities to promote health
