Q: Are there children’s activities?
Yes – the Museum of British Surfing has something for all the family to enjoy. For children we have a surfboard art competition, a spotter’s trail with different levels of difficulty and a section where youngsters can learn what things should or shouldn’t be on our beaches.
Q: How long does it take to go round the exhibits?
It is really down to the individual. All visitors should allow for at least 30 minutes. Some enthusiasts might spend more than an hour soaking up the information. There’s a lot to see, read and do – and around 50 surfboards to look at, slideshows and video screens.
Q: What will we see at the museum?
Most of the space will be taken up with a new exhibition each year looking at different themes in surfing culture and history, In addition, there’s a section on early surfing history, a timeline of British surfboards and a display about surfing & the environment in North Devon. You’ll see about a quarter of our collection at any one time.
